The most efficient Times to shoot Panoramic Pictures
If you were lucky enough to stand outside once the sun is setting and witness for yourself the beauty of the complete sky flooding with pink and gold, you’ll have an inkling of what Photographers mean when they consider perfect lighting.
With landscape photos specifically, the time of day that the photo is taken greatly has a bearing on the entire “wow” factor of the image. To capture truly beautiful panoramic landscapes, morning and early evening work best times to create the camera and capture nature unfolding.
Mornings are, certainly, one of the most vivid time of the day to capture great images. The sun is just peeking out over the horizon, and this steep angle of light allows you to capture the slow, steady glow that develops over the landscape. The rays touching the water or the mountains let them come to life with color and depth.
Morning photos generally have a blue cast to them, and have shadows that will disappear as sun floods the landscape later on in the day. Skies can be pink or varying shades of blue, gives it intensity beyond the normal blue and white. A panoramic landscape image of Kings Beach taken before 9 am will look vastly different than a photo taken at 2 pm in the afternoon, when the bright light of the sun causes everything to look flat and one dimensional.
Early evening shots have a golden light that is tough to replicate at every other time of the day. The beacon of sunlight that flooded all areas of the landscape in the middle of the day is subsiding, and as the sun angles down you will discover a mixture of shadow and light that stands out in panoramic photos.
Early evening light tends to have an orange cast to it that really livens up images that have shades of orange or red, such as a herd of giraffes grazing in Tanzania. Although early evening is best for capturing night falling on the landscape, don’t discount panoramic landscapes that are taken as evening falls. Just as it begins to get truly dark is the best time to take captivating Images Of Cities coming to life, as lights blink on and varying colors shine on the water.
Yes, you can take landscape photos at any time of the day, but to capture fantastic panoramic landscapes, early evening and early morning is your choice for images that will stand out from the rest.
